When can I apply?

No. Candidates may qualify with an associate’s degree or college credits, or with 2 years of active U.S. military or law enforcement experience. You must also have experience working with and interacting with a variety of people under different circumstances.

Do I need prior law enforcement experience?

Do What is the C.H.I.P. test?

The C.H.I.P. (Complete Health & Injury Prevention) test is a physical ability assessment required as part of the hiring process. Candidates must pass at the 40th percentile to qualify.

How do I complete the C.H.I.P. test? 

You can register for the test through CertifyFit: https://www.certifyfit.com/chip-test/

A valid C.H.I.P. card must be submitted with your application or provided by the required deadline. Candidates may also receive information about a possible in-house C.H.I.P. test via email.

What happens if I don’t have a valid C.H.I.P. card yet?

You may still apply, but you must complete the test and submit a valid assessment by the required deadline. Failure to do so will result in disqualification from the process

How will I be contacted during the hiring process?

All communication and notifications regarding the recruiting and testing process are sent via email only. It is important to regularly check your email for updates.

What is included in the background investigation?

The background investigation includes a review of your personal and work history. This may include fingerprinting, criminal record checks, motor vehicle records, education verification, and a credit check, as required by State standards.

What testing is required after a conditional offer?

Candidates must complete a polygraph examination, psychological evaluation, medical examination, and a physical ability test. These are evaluated on a pass/fail basis.

Do I need prior law enforcement experience?

Yes. Candidates may be required to re-qualify for certain components, such as physical ability, polygraph, or medical evaluation, prior to academy entry.
